On 5/25/64, the Awards ceremony was held and broadcast and Dick Van Dyke won. The next year, separate comedy and dramatic categories were created. It could be argued that had they been separate this year, Janssen would have won.

8/64 received Stella Award from Northwestern University for Outstanding TV Performance
1/26/65 announced as "1964 Man of the Year for TV" from Radio-Television Daily. The award was voted on by newspaper columnists and critics who regularly report on the media.
2/12/65 won the TV-Radio Mirror Award for "Best Male Star on Television" for 1964

On 5/22/65, the Awards ceremony was held and broadcast and Bill Cosby won.

Also on this broadcast, Janssen appeared as a presenter and ironically gave the Emmy award to Mary Tyler Moore for "The Dick Van Dyke Show." She had been the faceless "Sam" on his RICHARD DIAMOND TV series 7 years earlier.
